Barcelona set to lose €6 million due to playing in an empty stadium

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has revealed that the club are set to lose €6 million due to playing behind closed doors against Napoli.

All footballing leagues have been affected due to the coronavirus outbreak. After Italy essentially suspended the league, now Spain authorities have decided that all the clubs need to play behind closed doors.

And the second leg of both matches in Spain, Valencia vs Atalanta and Barcelona vs Napoli will be played without fans in the stadium.

But after proclaiming that they will lose some money, it was for the better as health is more important than money.

“There is, of course, an economic loss. Not only for Barcelona but for every club that has to play behind closed doors. It is everyone’s problem and money is a secondary factor. Health comes first,” the Barca president said, according to Marca.

“Barcelona will lose around six million euros.

“Obviously there is regret as it affects club members, fans and the world of football. We are in the middle of a unique situation.”
