Eric Garcia was a shining jewel of La Masia. He was rightly plucked out of the farmhouse and has thrived in the Premier League.
With his contract expiring in June of 2021, speculation has been rife that he will leave Manchester City. There is interest in him from Barcelona and the Citizens were making him part of the deal to bring Lionel Messi to the Etihad.
While Messi has decided to stay put, Sport has reported that the Catalans continue their interest in their academy product. Bartomeu wants Garcia at the Camp Nou and Ronaldo Koeman agrees to his signing.
Barcelona have made an initial offer for the young defender. It is reportedly far lower than the 40 million Euros the Citizens are asking for. However, it hints at a place for discussions to start.
Manchester City will have to come down on their asking terms. Garcia is out of contract in one year and informed that has already informed he will not extend his contract.
Anything out of his departure will serve to help City in any future deals. Moreover, it will also help with UEFA Financial Fair Play.
