Gareth Bale’s future at Real Madrid is likely to be one of no more than a peripheral figure for the foreseeable future.
The Welsh winger joined Los Blancos for a world record transfer fee back in 2013 and still remains the club’s most expensive acquisition to this day.
While it has not been all doom and gloom over the past seven years, the player has struggled throughout with fitness issues.
The obvious solution is for the player to find a new club and a transfer fee to be arranged between the parties.
The problem is though that Bale earns an astronomical amount of money at the Santiago Bernabeu, rumored to be punching half a million Euros a week.
Last summer a Chinese Super League side was willing to pay those kinds of wages but Real had to forgo a transfer fee. The deal fell apart after the club’s board refused to sanction such an agreement.
Now according to an interview with Sky Sports, Spanish football expert Alvaro Montero, Bale is would love to return o the Premier League. But he hints that sacrificing that big payday in Madrid is just too much to turn down.
Montero reveals: “We have to remember that in the last nine games in La Liga, Zinedine Zidane only counted on Gareth Bale for one game.”
“One year ago, I was in Washington with Zidane, the day he said it’s better for him [Bale] to go today, better than tomorrow.”
“The truth is there was only one option China, Jiangsu Suning tried to sign Bale last summer. He didn’t want to go to China.”
“He wants to return to the Premier League, but he earns €70 million on his deal at Real Madrid.”
“There’s no club in the world, after a player that has been two seasons without playing more or less, who can pay for that. It’s a lot of money.”
“So, I think it’s going to be a tricky situation but I am afraid he’s going to stay at Real Madrid.”
