FC Barcelona last month announced that they have agreed on terms with Juventus over the transfer of Arthur Melo.
Arthur will join Juve in the summer on a four-year deal, worth €72 million, plus up to €10m in bonuses. As a part of the transfer, Miralem Pjanic will also move the other way. The exchange of players will not take place before the end of this season’s Champions League.
Arthur, however, reportedly has no interest at all in wearing the Barca colors again.
As Marca reports, he is unhappy with his treatment by Quique Setien, who stopped relying on him following the announcement of his transfer.
The Brazilian midfielder flew to his homeland after Setien handed his squad a week off following the end of La Liga season, and has not returned since.
On Monday, all the Barca players, except Arthur, returned and underwent tests for COVID-19.
The Spanish side have issued a disciplinary warning against him for violating his contract terms. The 23-year old, however, remains adamant about not returning to the squad and has even requested termination of his contract.
With Sergio Busquets and Arturo Vidal set to be unavailable, Arthur’s absence could pose selection issues for the second leg of the Champions League Last-16 tie against Napoli.
