Cristiano Ronaldo is working hard in training to end his free-kick jinx and knows he will do it ‘soon’, says Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo.
Ronaldo has supplied a sensational 88 goals and 21 assists in only 116 appearances for Juventus. The 36-year-old continues to defy his age and is the favorite to finish as the Serie A’s top-scorer this season.
But critics have been quick to point out that only one of his 88 goals have come from a free-kick, which came in a 4-1 win over Torino last July.
“Free-kick goals are important, they can decide games, especially against teams that sit deep,” said Pirlo in a press conference on Sunday afternoon.
“Ronaldo is training well and is improving. He is more serene, and he knows he is soon going to score from a free-kick.”
The last free-kick that Ronaldo scored in a competitive outing was in a 2-0 Nations League win over Sweden in September for Portugal.
The Real Madrid legend will hope to end his drought in Juventus’ match against Crotone on Monday night in the Serie A.
