Ronaldo started the new year with a bang as he netted twice in his first game of 2021 to guide Juventus to a 4-1 victory over Udinese.
The double saw him break Pele’s goal record and overtake the Brazil legend as the second-highest scorer in football history.
With 14 goals racked up in just 11 league outings, the Portugal captain currently is leading the Serie A goalscoring charts.
Ronaldo remains one of the most lethal and consistent forward despite being in the late stages of his career, having achieved the feat of scoring in 20 consecutive years at senior level.
“From the beginning, we tried to exploit Ronaldo for his characteristics, we wanted to bring him to be decisive in the last meters,” Pirlo said in his pre-match press conference ahead of the AC Milan match.
“He was decisive everywhere, it’s normal when you have a champion like him, that you depend on him.”
