FC Barcelona find themselves trailing behind leaders Real Madrid with a four-point deficit as they prepare for La Liga matchday 35.
The Catalans have been a bit lackluster since the return of the 2019/20 season, failing to register a win in three of their last five matches.
Quique Setien, as a result, has come under heavy criticism over his squad decisions. It was not until the last match against Villarreal, which they won by a comfortable 4-1 scoreline, that the critics were silenced.
Barca now face Espanyol on Wednesday and they will be hoping to carry forward their momentum so as to keep the heat on Real Madrid.
And as long as mathematics do not confirm their bitter rivals as champions, Quique Setien asserts his side will not lose hope of winning their third consecutive title.
“Of course we can win La Liga. Reality and the maths prove it,” Setien said during Tuesday’s pre-match press conference [via Marca].
“It’s not easy, but you have to hope until the last day. We have to think about ourselves and win every game; see that there is a progression.
“Everything we do must be worthwhile for the next competition [Champions League].”
