Real Madrid go top of the League with goals from Benzema and Vinicius Jr. against Levante.
Zinedine Zidane made a few changes in his line-up from the narrow win over Real Valladolid with Nacho starting ahead of the injured Dani Carvajal and Ferland Mendy replacing Marcelo.
Luka Jovic, who has failed to make any significant impact so far, was replaced by Marco Asensio while Isco made way for Vinicius Junior.
Zidane’s decision to start the young attacker paid off as Vinicius, who scored the winning goal in the last match, handed his side an early lead.
The 20-year old Brazilian found himself in possession, after Levante’s failure to properly clear the ball on Luka Modric’s corner delivery, and sent a beautiful curler goalwards to open the scoring.
Levante came close to equalizing both in the first and the second half. Nikola Vukcevic was unlucky not to level the scoreline as his shot hit the crossbar while Thibaut Courtois also made a couple of notable saves to deny Enis Bardhi.
The hosts, however, were punished as they pushed for the equalizer late in the game as they ended up conceding on a counter. Levante had eleven men in the opposition half when Rodrygo released Karim Benzema with an incisive pass. Benzema skipped past a defender before easily guiding the ball in the back of the net for his first goal of the season to close off a comfortable 2-0 win for his side.
Up next for Real Madrid is the La Liga match against Cadiz, who sit at the 10th position in the table.
