Luis Suarez scores twice on Atletico Madrid debut as Granada are thumped 6-1

Diego Simeone named Luis Suarez among the subs against Granada.

Simeone sent on Suarez with 20 minutes remaining – and the veteran striker’s performance suggests Barça may have made a huge mistake letting him leave for a La Liga rival.

It took the South American just two minutes to make his first key contribution in an Atletico shirt.

Suarez cleverly flicked the ball through to Marcos Llorente, who made no mistake from just inside the box.

Then, with six minutes left of normal time to play, Suarez opened his account with a brilliant back-post header to put Atletico 5-0 up.

The former Barcelona star netted his second goal of the afternoon in the third minute of stoppage time after seeing his initial strike come back off the post.

Suarez hasn’t lost any of his magic, judging by this cameo performance.
