PSG vs Bayern Munich – Match Preview

Sunday night awaits a mouthwatering tie as two European heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich will go head to head in the final of the Champions League.

The upcoming match at Estadio da Luz will be a clash of champions, with PSG having won their ninth Ligue 1 title while Bayern having secured their eighth successive Bundesliga title this season.

The French side have been unable to translate their domestic dominance in Europe and will be looking to win the title for the first time ever.

The German giants, on the other hand, will be aiming to one-up FC Barcelona as the fourth most successful team in Champions League history.

PSG encountered a few scares in reaching the finals. They lost out to Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of the Round of 16 tie. It was also a very close match in the quarter-final against Atalanta, which they won in the final three minutes.

Bayern, on the other hand, have pulled no punches en route to reaching this stage of the competition. They dismantled Chelsea 7-0, FC Barcelona 8-2, and Olympique Lyon 3-0 in the knockout stages.

PSG vs Bayern Form

The Bavarians have won all 10 of their previous matches in the competition so far, scoring an incredible 42 times. Their attacking strength comes from the presence of the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Serge Gnabry in the squad.

While their opponents have a formidable attack, PSG have a very solid defense, having conceded just five times in the competition so far. They also possess some of the world’s best attackers in the world in the shape of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, and Angel Di Maria.

PSG vs Bayern Team News

Keylor Navas suffered a thigh injury against Atalanta and subsequently missed the semi-final, which makes him a major doubt for Sunday’s match. Idrissa Gueye, Layvin Kurzawa, and Marco Verratti are all also fitness doubts.

Jerome Boateng was substituted with a muscle complaint in the semi-final win over Lyon, but is expected to be fit for the final.

PSG vs Bayern Head to Head

The two sides have met eight times previously, with all of meetings coming in the Champions League group stages. Bayern have won three of those matches, with PSG winning five.
