Zinedine Zidane still wants his side to keep fighting and take all their remaining La Liga games as finals.
Los Blancos hold a one-point lead over Barcelona and could take that to four points if they win their game in hand against Getafe on Thursday.
In contrast, Barcelona have struggled to hit their flowing best of late. The latest being a 2-2 draw with Atletico Madrid at Camp Nou.
Zidane led his Madrid side to four points in both El Clasico encounters this season, giving Los Blancos yet another advantage in the title race.
While many feel Madrid have all but won the title, the Frenchman insists nothing has been won yet and his side can’t afford to take anything for granted.
“We haven’t won anything [yet],” the Madrid boss said to the club’s website on Wednesday. “We have six games. Eighteen points.”
“Until we are mathematically champions, we have to keep going, our rivals are going to do everything they can to win their games.
“No confidence and no saying, ‘this is over’.
“I’ve experienced this situation as a player. We have won absolutely nothing.”
Zidane maintained that his players must keep a winning mentality in all their games.
“I’m very happy and proud of the players,” Zidane added. “But we have six ‘finals’ left and one is tomorrow.”
“We have to think about trying our best to win. We’re good, but this doesn’t mean anything.”
