Lampard not happy with Chelsea’s defence

Chelsea suffered their tenth loss of this Premier League season as they finished second-best in the London Derby against West Ham United last night.

Willian‘s brace gave Chelsea a two-goal lead before Tomas Soucek pulled one back for the home side just prior to the half-time break. Michail Antonio and Andriy Yarmolenko then helped West Ham seal a 3-2 win.

The defeat meant the Sky Blues missed out on the chance to take advantage of Leicester City’s earlier defeat to Everton and move to the third spot in the table.

A frustrated Frank Lampard insisted that his players must learn to avoid giving away the lead, something which has happened quite a few times this season.

He told Sky Sports after the match: “You can dominate possession, which we did for most of the game.

“But if there are moments where you switch off, if you make one or two errors that lead to them scoring a goal that lets them go in 1-1 at half-time, you’re going to encourage teams on.

“The players have to show a bit of extra mentality and do the extra things that let you see a game through.”
