The 2-2 draw against Celta Vigo on Friday saw FC Barcelona give rivals Real Madrid an opportunity to gain more ground in the La Liga title race.
Real Madrid, securing a 1-0 win against Espanyol last night, did well in taking the advantage and stretched their lead by two points.
Only six league matches remain to be played now. Any more slip up by either team can aid the other’s title bid as the Catalans aim to become Spanish champions for a third consecutive time while Los Blancos look to win it for just the third time in the past ten years.
Quique Setien’s men will have a hard test of their determination when they welcome an in-form Atletico Madrid at Camp Nou on Tuesday night.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Setien is hoping his side can continue to put pressure on league leaders.
Setien said: “It’s true that the matches against Atletico Madrid are tremendously difficult. They are a great team, with a strong identity and way of playing.
“They will make things difficult for us. But I think that all the matches are as important as this one.”
