Atletico must win every match from now on says Diego Simeone

Diego Simeone says every single match is now a final for the as they cannot afford to make more mistakes to qualify for Champions League

Atletico Madrid continued their poor run of form as they failed to grab all three points yet another time this season in their latest La Liga outing against Athletic Bilbao.

Two goals in a space of two minutes in the first half, one from Iker Munian and the other from Diego Costa in the opposite end of the pitch, saw the match at San Memes end in a stalemate.

Saturday’s result meant Atletico dropped to the sixth position in the league table after suffering their 13th league draw this season.

Prior to the lockdown, the Rojiblancos put on an impressive display to knock Liverpool out of the Champions League.

Diego Simeone has challenged his side to match similar levels of performance in each of the remaining La Liga games as a Champions League finish looks increasingly uncertain.

“We started well in the first 10 minutes, then they positioned themselves better and they won the second ball and they did not let us attack,” Simeone told, as Goal reports.

“In the second half we were closer to that victory. Santiago Arias’ chance was the clearest. He could have allow us to take the victory in a stadium where you always have to work to win.

“We have one final left in each match.”
