Juventus Captain Leonardo Bonucci has said Cristiano Ronaldo will pick up his form soon following a miss against AC Milan.
Juventus were held to a goalless draw against AC Milan in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semifinal last night.
The Bianconeri, however, managed to proceed to the finals of the competition on away goals rule, having registered a 1-1 draw in the return leg back in February.
Last night’s match was filled with several take. But probably the takeaway moment, at least for Juve fans, was Cristiano Ronaldo missing from the spot.
Andrea Conti was penalized for the slightest of handballs at the 13th minute. The referee, after confirming with the VAR, pointed to the spot. Ronaldo’s shot then hit the post, depriving him of his second goal of the tie and his side the lead.
Leaping to the defense of his teammate, Leonardo Bonucci has highlighted the importance of the 34-year old in the Juve team.
“Even the greatest miss,” Bonucci told Italian TV channel Rai Sport [via Goal].
“Cristiano is always important for us. He increases the pressure on opponents’ defenders. He was unfortunate today and [Gianluigi] Donnarumma did well.
“We’ll see a great Juventus and a great Ronaldo again.”
