Official: Serie A will restart on 20 June and Coppa Italia on 13 June

Italian football has been given its official return dates.

Coppa Italia semi-finals will return first on June 13th, with Napoli still to host Inter and Juventus to host Milan for the second legs of their respective ties.

Then the following week, Serie A will resume, with four games from week 25 still to be played, and then the conclusion of the seasons on remaining futures.

Like many of the other top divisions, the games will be played behind closed doors.

According to Football Italia, Minister for Sport Vincenzo Spadafora confirmed the news.

He said:

“Italy is getting back on its feet and it is only right that football should do the same.”

“We can today say that the season can resume from June 20.”

“I hope that from June 13 to 20 they can complete the Coppa Italia, as that would be a signal to the whole nation.”

This does not mean that Italian football is out of the woods just yet.

Spadafora insisted that there were contingency plans for play-offs and even cancelation of the season if needs be.

He added:

“The FIGC also assured me that Plan B (play-offs and play-outs) and Plan C (using the existing table) can be adopted in case of suspension.”

“It is not up to me as Minister to decide, as that will be done by the FIGC.”
