Manuel Neuer put any speculation about his Bayern Munich future to bed when he signed a new contract this week. His new deal keeps in Bavaria until at least 2023.
Neuer’s position at the club was thought to be under threat from soon to arrive Alexander Nubel.
However, the contract extension has affirmed the commitment from both the club and the player to an extended future together.
Neuer spoke to the club’s official channels and is adamant he is more motivated than ever to lead the team to glory.
While he is confident of more glory this season, he also has one eye on next year’s Champions League final which is scheduled to take place in Munich.

He said: “We have a good team for the next few years and it is a lot of fun working for FC Bayern, also as a captain.”
“You start every year from the beginning of course wanting to win it all.”
“There is now the championship to win this year and we are still in every competition.”
“But right now it is a different situation for us and everyone has to adjust to the current situation, not only us football players.”
“One of our big goals for the next few years is definitely having the chance to play a home Champions League final, like we did in 2012.”
“2022 will be another European final in Munich, which is a great incentive for me and the whole team.”
“It would be a dream for us all to be able to reach this final at home.”
