Marcus Rashford admits nothing compares to his debut goal for Manchester United

Marcus Rashford has many iconic moments to pick from his Manchester United career but has looked back at the very start where it all began.

At the age of 18, Rashford started a Europa League game at home to Midtjylland. He came into the United starting lineup as a late replacement for injured Anthony Martial.

The then teenager would go on to announce himself in that fixture, bagging a brace with two neat strikes in the second half. To make things better, he bagged a brace on his Premier League debut against Arsenal only days later.

Since scoring the first of his goals, Rashford has gone on to score 64 goals in 201 appearances for United and 10 in 38 for the England national team.

The 22-year-old reveals nothing compares to the feeling he got after breaking the duck in a United jersey.

“You know, every other goal after that, it’s not quite the same as that first goal,” Rashford told United’s official website.

“I just felt grateful, really, to have the opportunity to play for the club and to be able to score goals like the one on my debut.”

Further asked to pick out his favourite memories of his career so far, he was sure of his response.

“There’s obviously a few moments. I’d say the FA Cup final, when we won it in 2016. That was one of the standout moments, because it was the first trophy. Rashford added.

“I actually joined the campaign sort of midway through the FA Cup, so it was nice. I started the season in the Youth Cup and finished it by winning the FA Cup. So it was a nice feeling.

“Would Everton [the 2016 FA Cup semi-final] be a special match? Yeah, I’d say so.”
