Thiago Silva’s earlier comments about Cristiano Ronaldo being easier to defend than Lionel Messi have surfaced again ahead of Chelsea’s match against Manchester United.
Although Silva has faced Ronaldo five times, he has only won once against the Portuguese. He’s also only defeated Messi once.
While both players are among the best in history, the Brazilian believes that defending against Messi is more difficult than defending against Ronaldo:
“The only difference is that Messi is difficult to stop when he has the ball in a one-on-one or two-on-one situation.
I’m not saying it’s easy with Ronaldo, but one player can mark and the other can watch, giving you more defensive protection.
Messi and Ronaldo, like Neymar, are players who are capable of extraordinary things.
However, I believe that defending against Messi is more difficult than defending against Ronaldo.”
